Prof. Naser Abumustafa

Professor. Naser Abumustafa, received both his M.B.A. and PhD. in Finance & Economics from Manhattan College and Fordham University in New York. He joined Qatar Finance and Business Academy/Northumbria University on August 2018 as Director of Programs & Professor of Finance. Professor Abumustafa was the Dean of Al-Zahra College for Woman in Oman and the Dean of the College of Business at Al-Ahliyya Amman University. He was the director of the MBA program at Gulf University for Science and Technology and Chair of the Department of Finance and Economics & professor of finance at Golden Gate University. Professor Abumustafa was on the faculty of Business School at three Universities in USA, Jordan and Kuwait including University of California at Berkeley Extension.

Professor Abumustafa research and consulting address regulatory issues in risk and investment management, he has written extensively about trading rules, transaction costs, index markets, and stock markets regulation and efficiency. He is the author of more than 23 articles in leading scholarly journals, including Applied Financial Economics; Development Journal; Journal of Derivatives & Hedge Funds and Journal of Applied Economics Letters.

He serves as Member of Editorial Advisory Board at International Research Journal of Finance & Economics and Journal of Middle Eastern Finance & Economics.

Dr. Ali Malik

Dr Ali Malik is a senior academic, researcher and Fellow of Higher Education Academy of UK (FHEA). After astounding academic achievements, he pursued career in academia and completed his doctorate in accounting and finance from UK.

Currently, Dr Malik is associated with QFBA-Northumbria University in Qatar. He had previously worked for University of Hertfordshire, University of Westminster, Middlesex University, University of Wales, Roehampton University and King Abdul Aziz University. In addition to this, Dr Malik also has industry experience as business manager and analyst in the telecom sector.

Dr Malik has an extensive international experience in higher education environment and his expertise includes but not confined to curriculum development, accreditations and re-accreditations, periodic reviews and programme leadership. He believes in diversity and innovation in teaching, learning and assessment practices.

Dr Malik publishes regularly in international research journals and has to date published over 26 research papers in reputed journals including New Political Economy, International Journal of Business Performance Management, Pacific Business Review and International Journal of Financial Services etc. He is on the editorial and advisory boards of a number of international research journals and is an associate editor of International Journal of Business Performance Management. Dr Malik sits on PhD and DBA supervisors and examiners panel of Cardiff Metropolitan University and University of West of England and University of the West of Scotland.

Adjunct Faculty
Parul Randeva

Parul Randeva holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in Strategic Marketing and Information Technology from Indian School of Business (ISB) and a Bachelors in Computer Science and Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). She has over 16 years of experience in Business Development and Strategic Planning across Qatar, UK and India in organizations such as Cognizant, IBM and Tata Consultancy Services, wherein she has managed global client relationships as well as driven several state and industry led strategic projects. Currently, she Heads the Business Development and Planning function at QFBA, along with teaching as an adjunct faculty for Business Management at QFBA North Umbria University.

Dr. Aruna Dhade

Dr Aruna Dhade is an MBA in Finance and PhD in Banking and Finance. 

She is working at QFBA-Northumbria University as an Associate Faculty.  

She has been working in an academic field with extensive teaching experience of 19 years. She has engaged in teaching Graduates and Undergraduate Courses of Finance at various Indian Universities and Qatar University (CBE) (AACSB) prominently. 

Along with teaching she has been engaged in Research activities. Her research area is Corporate Finance, Investments, Financial Economics, Behavioral Finance and Banking 

She has attended and presented her research work in number of National and International Academic Conferences.

She has won the Best Research Paper Award in World Business Conference, held in Dubai. 

Also, she has Research Papers publications in esteemed International Research Journals on her credit. 

She has won Qatar University Research Grant to explore Corporate Governance issues in GCC Companies. 

She has been serving as a Reviewer for reputed Internationals Journals publications of academia. 

She has been offering her services as a Foreign External Examiner for Ph D Thesis Evaluation Board of Annamalai University and Bharathidasan University India for the past several years.

Apart from academic she regularly writes on Social topics in Qatar print magazine and Indian mainstream Newspapers. 

Hadi Ebrahimzadeh

Hadi Ebrahimzadeh is an ICT instructor at QFBA. Previously, Hadi worked on managing multi-million dollar IT projects in the United States. He graduated from California State University with a Master’s degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids, water sports and football.

Dr. Kholode Al Obaidli

Dr. Kholode Al Obaidli enjoys over twenty (20) years of experience in delivering innovative talent management programs, leadership development and developing and implementing educational initiatives linked to overall corporate strategy.

Dr Al Obaidli is currently an adjunct professor at Doha Institute for Graduates at the School of Public Administration and Development Economics teaching Strategic HRM at the Executive Master Public Administration and EMBA/EMPA Dual Degree Programs. She collaborates to leadership development activities (corporate consulting, research), advises selected start-ups and provides performance and career coaching to executives.

Dr. Al Obaidli worked for Sidra Medicine Chief Learning Officer (CLO) from 2016-19, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Her main responsibilities included Corporate Education, Leadership Development, Talent Management, Performance management, Learning Governance, and Instructional Design. Her work at Sidra focused on providing an instrumental framework that guided the integration of talent management in the organization. She transformed Talent Management through the implementation of the National Development strategy 2.0, which fostered individual and organizational effectiveness by developing and offering a blend of learning initiatives to nurture national talent and create a sustainable workforce in healthcare for Qatar.

Dr Al Obaidli developed the Education Strategy for Sidra, which planned to provide a holistic view of clinical and corporate education in Sidra and drive an interprofessional learning model aimed at enhancing overall patient experience. She was also a member of Harvard Business Publishing Corporate Learning Partners’ Advisory Council, advising on the evolving role of learning and development and the expectations and needs of learners in today’s complex business environment.

Dr Al Obaidli’s passion for growth inspired her to build a learning culture within the hospital which included laying a foundation to ensure ongoing innovation and improvement in care and service delivery. Her vision for corporate learning in healthcare led to the creation of an impressive portfolio of behavioral programs, which positively impact patient safety and were licensed for continuous professional develop of clinical staff. Dr Al Obaidli secured ILM center status for Sidra (Institute of Healthcare Leadership and Management) and her education strategy covered the technical and leadership training needs at all levels across the organization, through selective collaborations with prestigious institutions such as Harvard Business Publishing and also the Institute of Healthcare Leadership and Management.

Another notable working experiences was serving as the Vice President of HR National Talent Management at Qatar Airways Group, reporting to the CHRO. She was responsible for advocating and implementing Qatarization within the airlines. In such capacity, she created and implemented innovative programs and solutions leading to accelerated Qatarization pathways which contributed to increased representation of nationals within Qatar Airways Group. Her focus on employing learning and education as foundational elements in a successful Qatarization and Corporate Strategy, contributed to creating a lasting partnership with strategic partners such as GE, Boeing, Rolls Royce, and Airbus and different educational institutes in Qatar and overseas. Her work in Qatarization and continued executive education for the leaders of the airline created a competitive edge for Qatar Airways and positioned the Group as a strong Employer of Choice in the country.

Prior to her Vice Presidency, she previously served as Executive Director of Strategic Planning and Development and Head of Scholarship Office, Qatar Olympic Committee; reporting directly to the Secretary General.

She is a mother of four children, Ahmed, Mohammad, Maria and Fatima. Dr. Al Obaidli holds several qualifications including a CIPD Associate Level 7, a PhD in Public Policy and Education from the University of Birmingham, UK and an MPhil in Educational Research from University of Birmingham. She received a Master Degree from the University of Manchester in UK in Educational Technology and ELT, and earned her Bachelor Degree from Qatar University.

Dr. Rashid Al-Kuwari

Rashid Al-Kuwari is a chartered manager with over 18 years of experience in the development and management of large-scale energy ventures. His expertise includes Strategic Planning, Enterprise Risk Management, and Human Resources Management. As an accredited trainer by the International Labour Organization, Rashid has been helping entrepreneurs and managers start their businesses or enhance their skills. He holds a Doctorate in Business Administration, an MBA, and a BSc degree in Engineering.

Fly-in Faculty
Dr. Anthony Devine

Anthony is an academic in the Accounting and Financial Management department. His area of teaching financial accounting and corporate governance. He is currently the programme leader for the BA (Hons) degree in Accounting and is responsible for accreditation with the Business School. Anthony’s PhD is in Family Business and Governance. His research interests include governance, values, education, innovation, entrepreneurship and accounting.

He is currently involved with a number of professional organisations including the Family Firm Institute as a GEN faculty member, AACSB as a global trainer for Assurance of Learning, he is on the board of New Writing North (a creative writing charity in the Northeast of England) and is a school governor.

Dr. Scott Ellis

Scott is currently reading for a PhD investigating banking competition and financial stability and is involved in teaching, on both under and postgraduate modules, as well as undergraduate, dissertation supervision. His main teaching roles and research interests surround portfolio theory, banking risk management and regulation.

Since joining in 2013, he has taught and trained the majority of our finance students how to use and engage with the Newcastle Business Schools’ Bloomberg Trading Suite.

He qualified with a First Class Honours Degree in Finance & Investment management in 2010. Following graduation, he held a number of roles within & outside the financial services.

Dr. Lisa Ferguson
Dr. Lesley-Ann Gunton

Lesley-Ann joined Northumbria University as a Graduate Tutor in September 2014 following a career in Human Resources in the UK Civil Service. Lesley-Ann completed her PhD in October 2018 which focused on the role of line managers in rewarding their employees from the perspective of Self-Determination Theory.

Lesley-Ann's research interests include employee reward and recognition, the role of the line manager in HRM, performance management and motivation with a specific focus on the use of self-determination theory as a mechanism for theoretically framing these key areas.

Dr. Satish Sharma

Satish has attained his doctoral qualification in the area of “Consumer Credit Risk Modelling”. His research interest comprises of financial risk management, banking regulations, investments and micro-finance.

Satish has also delivered the North East Access to Finance (NEA2F) £50K project investigating the demand/supply side of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise (SME) finance with an initial focus on the relationship between Banks and SMEs.

Dr. Pankaj Chandorkar

Pankaj’s research interest include Empirical Asset pricing with particular focus on Consumption-Based Asset Pricing Model.

His future research interests are the interaction of unconventional monetary policy and asset pricing, interaction of implied volatility and asset pricing. Pankaj is currently working alongside a number of academics from Cranfield University in field of asset pricing whilst working at Newcastle Business School.

He worked as a part-time lecturer at Coventry University. He has also worked as assistant tutor on the MSc Finance and Management and MSc Investment Management courses at Cranfield University. He has teaching experience on the Doctoral Core Research Methods Training Programme which is designed primarily for the first year PhD students at the Cranfield School of Management. Currently he teaches full time on two modules; Financial Econometrics 1 and 2 on MSc International Finance and Investment program and Risk and Derivatives at undergraduate level. He has structured and modified the Financial Econometrics 1 and 2 modules, which enable students to conduct rigorous empirical research in Finance. Recently he is been appointed as Program Leader of our famous MSc International Finance and Investment and MSc International Financial Management programmes.

Pankaj has a PhD in Finance and Masters in Research in Management, both from Cranfield University. He has MSc Finance and Management from Loughborough University. His undergraduate degree is in Mechanical Engineering from Pune University, India.

His hobbies include hobbies include hiking and I like to go on walks in the mountains and in forests.

Dr. Teresa Roca

I hold a multidisciplinary PhD in Occupational Psychology, Policy and Education, funded by the prestigious Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). I examined the impact on the well-being and working lives of 100 school teachers of being placed in failing school categories by The Office for Standards in Education (OfSTED) in England. My study was longitudinal and used various methods of data collection and multilevel analysis. I also hold a MSc in Occupational Psychology from the University of Nottingham and a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from the Open University UK.

My primary research interests are within the areas of occupational well-being, organisational behaviour, personnel development, performance management, research methods, accountability systems for school improvement, educational policy, leadership, decision-making, organisational culture and change.

Dr. Roman Stepanov
Dr. Binam Ghimire

I am a senior lecturer in finance. My research interests are mostly motivated by the literature in sustainable corporate finance, socially responsible investment and financial development. In sustainable corporate finance and investment, I look into portfolio theory, capital structure and performance of stocks that are socially responsible. Within financial development, I am interested in the debate on access to finance, and the linkage and complementary relationship between banks and stock markets for sustainable development.

My teachings are primarily focussed within finance with specialism in investment, risk and derivatives which benefits from over a decade of commercial experience including professional banking, credit analyst and consortium finance. I make extensive use of Excel, Bloomberg and E-views to increase the broader skill set of my students and enhance the experiential content of my teaching. In the school, I am the programme leader for two postgraduate finance courses: 1) MSc International Financial Management, and 2) MSc International Finance and Investment as the programme leader. Both the programmes have been structured to cover several important learning required by the professional awards such as the Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement (CIPM) and Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) qualifications.
