    Description of role

        Responsible for approving prudential and conduct of business rules requirements based on risks identified, standards set by relevant Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, FATF and similar bodies and on international leading regulatory practices

    Core technical skills

    • Knowledge of structure of the banking industry and the overall financial sector
    • Knowledge of Basel standards and Core Principles of Banking Supervision of the BCBS
    • Ability to identify supervisory risks, interlinkages of the issue with the banking and the wider economic system
    • Understanding of the concept of proportionality and risk based regulations
    • Ability to analyse and hypothesise effects of regulation on different components of the banking system, for example - impact of regulations, change on liquidity, capital or asset quality
    • Ability to determine needs for revoking or changing a regulation
    • Ability to articulate the connectivity and impact of current regulations and any proposed new regulation
    • Ability to evaluate financial analyses of proposed regulation to determine optimal solution
    • Ability to understand risks in SIFIs within the context of the current market
    • Ability to direct the development of policy based on business rules and identified risks in line with local statutory requirements and international conventions
    • Capable of articulating regulation(s) such that they are completely transparent and also not open to wide interpretation
