    Description of role

    Responsible for examining licensees firm-wide risks and ensuring production of comprehensive, timely, accurate and well-formatted reports which are used by the licensees senior management to monitor overall risk exposure of the bank.

    Core technical skills

    • Knowledge of relevant laws and principles and standards of regulation and supervision
    • Knowledge of insurance (conventional and Takaful)
    • Ability to supervise an examination and coordinate data gathering activities
    • Knowledge of appropriate documentation and support evidence gathering for identified issues
    • Ability to critically evaluate with scepticism information provided
    • Knowledge of financial soundness indicators to ascertain application within the institution
    • Familiar with early warning systems and monitoring tools
    • Knowledge of relationship between specific products and inherent risk(s)
    • Data gathering and collection of relevant evidence for analysis
    • Ability to understand a full product lifecycle for relevant insurance product suites
    • Skills in the execution of Audit activities across relevant areas of risk
    • Ability to effectively articulate concerns related to the financial institution backed by appropriate evidence
    • Understanding of corporate governance principles, conduct of business principles and rules relevant to solvency
